The Wall Street Journal reported the Boys Scouts are exploring bankruptcy. The whole article is behind a paywall, but this is how it opened. https://www.wsj.com/articles/boy-scouts-of-america-considers-bankruptcy-filing-amid-sex-abuse-lawsuits-11544649657 "

"The Boy Scouts of America is considering filing for bankruptcy protection as it faces dwindling membership and escalating legal costs related to lawsuits over how it handled allegations of sex abuse.

Leaders of the Boy Scouts, one of the country’s largest youth organizations, have hired law firm Sidley Austin LLP for assistance with a possible chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, according to people familiar with the matter."

The Daily Caller mentions how the church is pulling out and the BSA will lose 1/3 of its membership.  https://dailycaller.com/2018/12/12/boy-scouts-verge-bankruptcy/

"Those numbers will likely continue to decline. Earlier this year, the Mormon church announced the end of a long-standing partnership with the Boy Scouts and the formation of its own program for boys beginning in 2020, a move that could cost the organization almost a third of its members. The church was reportedly “deeply troubled” by the group’s decision to allow openly gay leaders. (RELATED: The Scouts’ Inclusion Of Girls Is A DISASTER For Both Boys And Girls)

Additionally, the Boy Scouts have come under criticism of late for keeping records of sex abuse perpetrated by scoutmasters — called the “perversion files” — under wraps for decades instead of revealing them to the public."
