Yeh, but getting people to actually read my citations can be like herding cats.  You don't see my point because genetics is highly statistical in nature, and you didn't bother to read my citations.  If you want absolute knowledge, you are in the wrong place, cdowis.

I am indeed in the correct forum to point out the flaw in your argument.  It is those who use the DNA argument against the BOM who have the burden of certainty, and all I have to do is to point out the statistical uncertainty of their arguments.  As you should be aware, the maternal side of Joseph's children are significant in mtDNA testing, and that is why I point out the difference between Joseph and Judah.

 

I asked for Lehi's DNA characteristics based on that difference in the maternal line, and your response is basically unresponsive  -- "Your question is inappropriate because probably, maybe, likely, it is possible, we are fairly certain that......"   If you want to make a refutation of my point, you are in the wrong place ==>> you need to post in forums where the participants are ignorant of such subtleties.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this subject, cdowis, but I was otherwise engaged.

 

Your asking for the mtDNA of Lehi is like asking for the mtDNA of King David or of Moses or some other individual, which is the sort of thing which (only in a modern context) interests genealogists and perhaps police searching for a suspect.  In other words, you are conveniently asking the impossible.

 

In historical studies attempting to chart migration patterns or the static population composition in some local region, one doesn't search for a specific individual, but rather for the general genetic characteristics of a particular people or peoples.  In that context, the genetic differences between Judah and Joseph (individual sons of Israel, or their endogamous tribal configurations) are meaningless in considering the larger gene pool.  Indeed, it would be difficult to discern real differences among the Israelites in general and their Canaanite neighbors.  In fact, it is this genetic commonality among specific groups (say, for example, Jews) which enables the genetic research services available to the public to produce maps of your ancestors (for a fee) -- showing from which areas of the world they came.  To understand that context, you really need to read the citations I provided above, and that is why the study of ancient DNA is so important to this discussion.  You really need to read up on the subject.
