Oldest Papyri Discovered

Pierre Tallet,* director of an Egyptian and Sorbonne (Univ. of Paris) expedition, announced discovery of Fourth Dynasty Wady el-Jarf Papyri, from the time of King Khufu (Cheops), “the oldest papyri ever found," i.e., forty mostly administrative papyri, including the partial diary of an official concerned with the construction of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, found in caves at an ancient port on the Red Sea.
