Excommunication Vs. Resignation

I know it was in the 2006 CHI, not 100% sure about the new version. I would think becoming an official member of another religion would be grounds for excommunication for apostasy at the very least.

I think a lot would depend on why someone joined another church. If it were for the reason of using Church membership to lead the Saints away( A wolf in sheep's clothing). Then I think that that would be a good reason for ex-communication. Simply joining another church because lack of interest, or changing beliefs wouldn't rise to that level.

Right, I'd imagine the Bishop or SP would have a lot of leeway in such a case.

Maybe they held a council to try to sort it out.
