altersteve Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 (edited) CFR that YHWH, I Am Who Am, Yahweh and in your case, Jehovah are all referring to Jesus and not God...Jesus is God. If you want me to give you references, though, they won't be from the Bible. Edited October 14, 2011 by altersteve
Cobalt-70 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 CFR that YHWH, I Am Who Am, Yahweh and in your case, Jehovah are all referring to Jesus and not God...That's the current Mormon understanding (since 1916), but it was not always so. Joseph Smith referred to Christ as Jehovah in a prayer recorded in the D&C, as well as other times.
Cobalt-70 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 It seems to have always been so. Joseph Smith referred to Christ as Jehovah in a prayer recorded in the D&C, as well as other times. But he also explicitly referred to the Father as Jehovah, and sometimes as "Jehovah-Elohim." To him, Jehovah and Elohim were just synonyms for "God."
