Mudcat Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 We came home from participating as a family in the Nauvoo pageant and found out our beloved basset hound was killed. We loved that dog so very much. I feel for your loss.AnijenSo sorry Anijen, I sent you a PM about this, but your box is full or something.I had a basset once.. he was a good little fellow. He was the first dog I had ever gotten by request. My first two were strays that just showed up and passed on by car accidents. Regardless, I had always wanted one, so on my birthday I was given one. He was a white fellow with red spots. I named him Sam.A few months later I received my first bike without training wheels. It was yellow.. had one of those big "banana" seats that was the going trend.. I remember it had "Dirt Duster" painted in flaming red letters. We had a big hill on the property that was next to the drive, which was also on lower part of the slope. There was a flat spot at the top of it all and once you started you could careen down the thing at fantastic speeds.I was doing so a few days after Christmas and little Sam came from behind a shrub into my path. I was going to fast react and ran over his ribcage. He seemed fine at the moment and my parents thought he would be okay. But he died during the night. A guilty moment for me for sure.Again sorry for your loss. I hope his end was quick and thanks for the condolences.Dearest Regards Friend,Mudcat
