The Heavenly Coronation of King David

I love the tying of David's own fate to that of Israel, both temporally and escatologically. Sin --> Suffering --> Redemption --> Exaltation. "Thou shalt not leave my soul in Sheol!" is David's cry, just as it is the cry of every suffering Child of Israel, natural born or adopted. That is the cry of faith, and as David's soul is not only lifted out of Hell but is ennobled, glorified, deified and placed on a throne in the presence of G-d, to rule with Him forever, so it is the fate of suffering Israel to be lifted and crowned with glory.

Absolutely beautiful stuff, volga. My eyes are still misty.

USU "And the bit about the Angel of the Presence weeping for man's sad fate was especially good" 78

Beautiful stuff? Same could be said of your post. I think you did a fantastic (and eloquent) job of tying together the enthronement scene and the angel's message of comfort and salvation. That message wasn't spelled out, but took the form of symbols and types. You hit the nail on the head.

I think Segansegael's weeping, and holding Ishmael in his bosom, letting him see the woes, Ishmael's horror, and the subsequent vision of triumph and salvation bear striking similarities to Moses 7.

I had the same thought, and shared it with my family when I excerpted it an hour or so ago and sent it via email blast. I also tied it to JSJr's Liberty Jail letter D&C sections: "Are we then greater than He?"

The family's been through a tough couple of years with illness, injury, suicide and betrayal. Reading such profoundly comforting stuff always hits the spot!

One more reference to thrones of fire.

"God sits on a throne of fire, and all round Him, like columns of fire, are ineffable names."

-Alpha-Betha de-Rabbi Akiba.

Fire is seen as a substance associated with God and his manifestations of power, that is, his holy names. They are what he uses to create the world, and through which his power is displayed. The original letters of the Torah as it was given to Moses were engraved in fire.

Metatron's throne is fire, like that of his master. He is surrounded by his angels.

Likewise, David's throne is fire, the same substance as God's is. He is also surrounded by his own agents, the kings of Judah and Israel.

These second gods, Metatron and David, are mirrors of God himself.

Sorry to hear about those rough few years. Here's hoping that they get better soon.

True enough according to it's own introduction. But besides D&C 132, there is also Acts 2:34 showing that David has fallen from his exaltation because he missed the first resurrection which began at Matthew 27:52-53.

I thought the first resurrection was at the second coming (at the start of the millenniun)?

If it began at Matthew 27:52-53, does that mean it's still on going?

And what about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the other OT saints mentioned in Hebrews 11?

Didn't Paul say something about them not being "made perfect" before we are?

Also, I've wondered why some were saying that the resurrection was ""past" (one of Paul's letters to Timothy), could that have had anything to do with the resurrection recorded in Matthew 27:52-53?
