MeisterEckhart Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I stumbled on a fragment of Origen's Commentary on Genesis that discusses Bishop Melito's view that God has a body and took Ge 1.27 literally. Unfortunately I don't know Greek well enough to read it, let alone translate it. I need a Greek linguist to translate this fragment (only twelve tiny pages). I'll pay for it with an advance (at least two hundred dollars). Any patrologists out for contract?
mmmcounts Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I don't know of any patrologists looking for freelance work, but if you have a little bit of familiarity with ancient Greek, you should be able to make some (free) progress with an online Greek mailing list I know of. If you google "b-greek," it's the first thing that comes up. It's definitely not geared towards translating 12 pages at a time- the usual conversations have to do with a thorough picking-apart of just a verse or two from the Bible. But it also gets into related Greek texts, and Origen definitely falls in that category.If you want, you can start making use of that resource and see how far you can get. Start picking out small parts that are of greatest interest to you and see if you can run them by the B-Greek people. It's a start, anyway- and at the very least, you can take a look at what they say about Genesis 1:27.
