Why delete it? This is an excellent summary of the state of biblical archeology today, from a man who knows it well.

It also brings back the memory of my first meeting Bill Dever in early 1970 at the Hebrew Union College Biblical and Achaeological School in Jerusalem. I was a young student of archeology then and he signed me up for a scheduled two-week excavation at Tell Gezer during university spring break. I had never been on an excavation before and it was a wonderful experience. I found archeologists to be among the nicest and most civilized people I had ever met, and this held true on all subsequent excavations I had the privilege to participate in.

I think this is also pertinant to BoM archeology(convergences, book religion vs folk religion,political agendas).

I especially like how the Bible gives the impression that ancient Israelites were monotheists but that they actually weren't. I wonder how much of what Mormon wrote is representative of the people's religion.
