This will give you a much better idea of Mormon beliefs than asking on this forum, which contains people from all different points of view but are not necessarily active church members, and don't represent a good sample of the Mormon community.

TAO Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I mention Hebrew 10 because it teaches the truth about sin not being a issue, that is why I ask if mormons do a bible study on Hebrews??Actually, we already have one... it be here: http://lds.org/manual/new-testament-gospel-doctrine-teachers-manual/lesson-37-jesus-christ-the-author-and-finisher-of-our-faith?lang=engThere are also some other great verses on sin outside of Hebrews 10, as well.

TAO Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 How does a mormon exercise faith to get into the Kingdom of God or get saved??How does a Mormon exercise faith? By performing good works twoards others based on that faith. Thus, inheriting the Kingdom of God.Also when I did a one year study on Hebrews i found the truth sins is not an issue before God, how does a mormon see this?Sin is an issue before God. Remember, the unforgivable sin. You need to read more things if you think sin isn't an issue. I can post some quotes if you would like.

TAO Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 But isn't works boasting , and how much work do you need to maybe earn your way into the Kindgom of God??Works is only boasting when you do it to boast. If you do it to follow the commandments of God it is not boasting. How can sin be an issue when God said He remembers none of our indivisual sins except the one sin of rejecting Jesus as Lord??I need a reference to the section (KJV style please), and also, that supports the LDS concept that we will all eventually be forgiven of our sins (after punishment) and inherit a kingdom of glory of some type.

TAO Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 How about the things we didn't do is also sins? The things we don't do that we have knowledge of having supposed to do are sins, yes.Jas:2:10: For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. There's a very similar D&C verse:D&C 82:7And now, verily I say unto you, I, the Lord, will not lay any sin to your charge; go your ways and sin no more; but unto that soul who sinneth shall the former sins return, saith the Lord your God.Heb:10:17: And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.Heb:10:18: Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.Heb:10:19: Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,Read the part I bolded. No remission, no forgetting of sins. You have to remit them in order for him to remember them no more. Supported by other verses in the Bible as well.... I can give links if you desire.
theresa11 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I have recently been thinking a lot about the nature of sin. Here is one line of reasoning, from the "traditional" to the more elaborate view I am starting to develop:Sin is any behaviour forbidden by GodHowever, it appears that no individual behaviour is always sinful, all depends on circumstances and motivations. Is a sin also defined by its consequences? No, consequences may include just punishment for sin, but do not define the sinfulness of a behaviour. The internal antecedents of behaviour define its sinfulness: knowledge, motivation and attitudeA prideful attitude is an attitude of rebellion. When paired with the knowledge of God's attributes and purposes, it becomes rebellion against God.Sin can therefore be defined as anything we do out of pride or greed after being aware of the goodness of God and the basic principles of the Gospel. If this definition is correct, then how would we label the past behaviour of a new convert to the Church? If he didn't know about the gospel, then his actions were not sinful and he had no need to repent of them. Therefore there is a flaw in this definitionCan you help me identify the flaw in my conclusion (which is not a final conclusion, btw)?
theresa11 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Im a convert and the firt thing a convert does is acknowledges what they did in the past was a sin they broke a rule ,but know they wont do it any more . there's no whaling and gnashing at teeth ,because of ignorance, like a child , its just a first step of acknowledging the sin, first step in repentance. 2nd ask god for forgiveness , 3 never do it again

And when we sin again, all of our previous sins return - the ones that we had been forgiven of before. Look at that D&C verse again. It's... interesting.
