Magyar Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 It was worth slogging through a very dry, dense chapter of the great 5th century Christian scholar Augustine's City of God to find this gem:"It was right that the men belonging to God's people should be more expressly called gods,to assure and certify them that He who is called God of gods is their God ... Hence the saying of the apostle, "Though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, as there be gods many and lords many, but to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by Him." City of God, Book 9, 23.
