Are you saying that the Polynesians (I'm going to limit this to Hawaiians, Samoans and Tongans, not Fijians) are more like South American Indians (Incans) who seem to have gotten much larger and muscular while on the islands rather than Vietnamese or Southeast Asians coming and developing differently than those we see in Southeast Asia today? Are there any language similarities between Hawaiians and Native Americans or any language, or are they just too different to tell? I know very little about Polynesian laguages but it didn't remind me of Chinese, Vietnamese, etc.

The Polynesians I saw seemed to have wavy hair as opposed to the straight hair of American Indians or Orientals. They had beards unlike most American Indian tribes. The most obvious difference was that their bodies were much thicker and wider. They seem so unique. It's hard for me to conceive where there roots are.

If your looking for physical descriptions then your only link is really going to be DNA and not physical appearance. Most of the island population including hapa (mixed) Hawaiians have many other races in them now. Even DNA is becoming difficult. There are only about an estimated 5000 pure Hawaiians left and half live on Niihau which is part of Kauai county, but the only private owned island in Hawaii, and reserved for only the pure royal Hawaiian lineage. Haoles (foreigners)are only allowed to visit. Only through air tours or safaris but not to stay overnight. No DNA on those island inhabitants have been done and just the sporadic few left on the other isles have had testing. DNA shows Asian origins except for Melanesian people which also have African. Attached is Henry Kapono a local popular singer who is pure Hawaiian in lineage. You will note his physical appearance. His hair is what we call Ehu (curly) by nature. He also has a beard at times for facial hair. I can tell you also that there are a few pure Hawaiians in my ward. I do not have pics of them but 2 of them have straight hair. They have facial hair also. You really, as I have asserted, cannot go by physical looks today. Native Americans in the Pacific coast also had beards. Physical features of Polynesians vary also as the diet today makes a huge difference, and along with medical advances. More fatty meats, more variety of fruits, vegetables and dairy products contribute to a much larger, taller and muscular and fattier population then what was in the past. Even with the pure Hawaiians as they eat such accessible foods. A good example is such as my wifes relatives. They are American Japanese nisei (2nd) and sansei (3rd) generation. When you look at my wife and her family the American diet is far more apparent. Same as Polynesians. They are quite more muscular or fatty. Taller and compared to diseases that is more prevalent in Japanese culture such as osteoporosis. It is extremely more rare on the Asians over here. The local Asians have a term and recognize foreign Asians. They say FOB (fresh off the boat) due to physical characteristics. You should see the the fourth and fifth generations of Japanese. Big enough to compete in college football powerhouses such as UoH warriors and their athletes.

and even in Pro Football (American).

Now I stated one reason why as to answer your physical traits. However as some Asians comes from both ends of the continents as Polynesians are in the middle. In another two links I gave more reasons I more subscribe why they came from the east. I don't know if you read it.

Also another note from a leading anthropologists she states as to why the Austronesian theory using Lapita pottery to sustain doesn't hold:
