The Dude Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I have no problem with the reading of 2 Nephi 1:5 as a passage about chosen people of other countries being led to the promised land. But it is totally unclear whether this is talking about people who are already there or people who would come later (Mulekites... eventually Europeans). Kevin Christensen comments:Why does Lehi make this point about others being led to the land? He very likely knew about them."He very likely knew about them? Could have.... maybe.... The speculation is based on what, exactly? And it came to pass that the angel said unto me: Look, and behold thy seed, and also the seed of thy brethren. And I looked and beheld the land of promise; and I beheld multitudes of people, even as it were in number as many as the sands of the sea. (1 Nephi 12:1)Reading this passage as describing non-Lehite multitudes existing in the New World....Whatever. The passage doesn't say the multitudes were non-Lehite. In fact, it calls them "thy seed, and also the seed of thy brethren," which makes them Lehites.

Since Lehi was delayed in Arabia for eight years, the Mulekites could have been there first. Lehi

I'll take those odds.
