Zakuska Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Psalms 826 I said, "You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High.7 But you shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes." I am not sure what YOUR understanding of these verses are, could you explain them to me from your point of view?Like is a comparison. If these where Men there is no reason to compare them to themselves. Its like telling a Dog to Bark like a Dog.What do you mean by "stripped of Immortality"?They where being punished. Something they had was taken from them. Their Imortality was stripped as they fell Like Lucifer.EditJames Talmage "Jesus the Christ" Chapter 28 "Plainly they had found no ambiguity in His words. He then cited to them the scriptures, wherein even judges empowered by divine authority are called gods, and asked: "Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? Do you disagree with James Talmage's explanation?Yes... I disagree with Bro. Talmage's explanation. He did not have the benefit of todays Scholarship on the matter. We know now of the Divine Council that is prominent through out the OT.
ebeddoulos Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Now you know how I feel, but drill instructors are known more for there brawn. I know what your are TRYING to prove, but I don't buy it. You are twisting thiings, and the more you twist it the more confusing it becomes.I bet you don't even believe what you are trying to persuade me believe. According to your belief (LDS belief), are you saying the the pre-mortal Jesus is God the Father's EQUAL or peer?Like the unrighteous judges in Psalm 82:6 that we have been talking about for several days in another this thread, which you probably did not see because you were blissfully unaware.Psa 82:6 I have said, Ye [are] gods; and all of you [are] children of the most High.Psa 82:7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princesHey wait a minute, I thought we were talking about peer relationships here.Isaiah 44:8 aFear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no bGod; I know not any.8b LDS Bible cross reference #2Isa. 46: 9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,So you would explain Isa 46:9 the same way that God (pre-mortal Jesus) is saying that there is NONE like me, refers only to false gods?Well shucks, no surprise there. Standard unimaginative anti-Mormon playbook. Typical â?¦ all too typical.Back in Isaiah 40:25, God asks a rhetorical question. "To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One." Then, in a series of vignettes, He answers the question Himself. With each carefully crafted composition, He illustrate that there is an unequal peer between God and man. With each masterpiece in miniature, He broadens the scope as He takes away the options. No matter what or who is being compared against God, it is God who is without peer. Now in Isaiah 46:5 God challenges the non-believers to build an idol or to select a lesser deity that would give him some competition by essentially restating Isaiah 40:25: â??To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?â? Finally, in Isaiah 46:9 he closes the loop and gives the obvious answer in full: â??Remember the former things of old: for I am God(el-singular), and there is none else; I am God(elohim-plural), and there is none like me.â? There is no one, be it lesser deity, idol carved from a chuck of stone or false god that can stand the glaring comparative light nor will there ever be. God, by whatever name, is in deed, in fact and in every other way unique. For this and many other kindnesses and mercies, I give thanks to the God of gods; for his mercy endures for ever.

ebeddoulos Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 So, is it your position that Yahweh is species-unique?It is my position that the Bible says that God is unique among the gods.
