In other words, the name Moses is an Egyptian name. Therefore, upon first reading the JST claim that â??by this name [Moses], he shall know that he is of thy [Josephâ??s] house [i.e. family],â? it might seem that the JST makes a mistake. ...In considering these issues, I could see how the missing theophoric element in Moses' name could lead him to know that he was from the House of Joseph....

Might it not be that by being named Moses, Moses would know of his lineage because of Joseph's prophecy?

Joseph said: "Thus saith the Lord God of my fathers unto me, A choice seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins, and he shall be esteemed highly among the fruit of thy loins; and unto him will I give commandment that he shall do a work for the fruit of thy loins, his brethren. ...and he shall be called Moses. And by this name he shall know that he is of thy house."

Now Moses had the writings of Joseph. When he saw the prophecy, he would know he was the fulfillment and thus he would know his lineage. The only problem I have with your observation is that the name Moses, by itself, does not draw a line to Joseph. His name, in fact, as you noted, is Egyptian. It might be distinctly different from the names of his peers, but I'm not sure it's as significant as you believe.

Or am I missing something?

What evidence is there that Moses had access to this prophecy from the JST? Even if he did at some pointâ??and I really canâ??t see how we could ever prove that he didâ??I would have a hard time reconciling this claim with the account of Mosesâ?? life in the opening chapters of Exodus.

The question, â??Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh,â? doesnâ??t seem like an inquiry made by one who had read the prophecy presented in the JST (see Ex. 3:11).

And btw, the name of the Pharoah at that time was Rameses, right? Is the suffix "meses" another form of "moses"???

Yes per this. Accordingly, Rameses is the Son or Ra.
