Walking Blameless Before God:

I have wondered on occasion (without really ever having the time to investigate) if perhaps the notion of "walking before God" has its roots in a ritualistic sense of covenant making with God. I can think of a number of ways in which this would be expressed, but the notion of "walking with God" could very well describe the process of entering into a covenant with God, and the idea of "walking before God" could also be a reference to a renewal of that covenant or as a metaphor describing a continued compliance with such a covenant. A legal question so to speak, which is being asked in Alma 5.

Well David,

As you said on another thread EVs are worshipping a different Jesus, ('...no way we are worshipping the same Jesus...') and if that be true, is the Atonement of this other Jesus valid?

And if yes then when did this other Jesus provide His sacrifice?

I'm guessing you missed this post by David:

Thanks Dr. Steuss,

Apparently David did retract that statement which he made I suppose in a fit of frustration having to deal with some non-Mos questions.

Now that he has assured me that he and I both believe in the same Jesus I suppose what we need to resolve are how we perceive that alleged same Jesus.

To me the perceptions cannot usually be compared but they can certainly be contrasted.

Lets not forget the NT Apostles picking up on the Motif.

Matt. 12: 5

5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

Luke 1: 6

6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

1 Cor. 1: 8

8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philip. 2: 15

15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Philip. 3: 6

6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

1 Thes. 5: 23

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Tim. 3: 2

2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

1 Tim. 3: 10

10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

1 Tim. 5: 7

7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

Titus 1: 6

6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

Titus 1: 7

7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

2 Pet. 3: 14

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

Hmm.. the body roughted in the tomb?

So what Body was it that ate honey comb and fish the the Apostles?

That professor being a student of Tillich, Bultmann, and Bornkamm would say that the resurrection appearances, as well as the I sayings in John were emendations by early Church fathers to give credence to the faith.

A fellow seminarian of mine laughed at that saying 'You can't have it both ways. For one they (Apostles) were too stupid to understand what Jesus was really saying, and two they were so intelligent to write these stories about Him which were not true anyway and also convinced people.'

As to Bornkamm's 'Jesus of Nazareth' which was required reading, he said there were many Theos Aner in Palestine. '..else by whom do your sons drive them out? Consequently they will be your judges at the last day...'

William, what in the world are you trying to get me to say? That I believe that all Evangelicals are going to hell? I
