Prof Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago For the last several years, my ward has had a giving tree at Christmas. This morning, our bishop announced that that was no longer allowed. Is it the same in other wards? Anyone have a guess why such things wouldn't be allowed? 1
Pyreaux Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago The explanation that caught my attention is it started in 2022, a letter was going around concerning the Church's tax-exempt status. I have not been able to locate the letter. I would be careful about interpreting your bishop's announcement as meaning that the Church no longer wants members organizing Christmas charitable activities. So, I'd also ask whether members can still organize an independent giving tree. 2
