In talking with this other individual it became evident that they viewed things that cause us shame far differently than I do. Perhaps this is another growth point? So now I am reading in Genesis 2, Abraham and Moses. I think this will be interesting.
Questing Beast Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 "Shame" in the garden of Eden was brought about by knowledge. Innocent ignorance is the natural state of the child mind. Adam and Eve were "growing up", such that the next time their "Father" came to visit, they ran from him instead of welcoming him. By "growing up" we realize how "deliciously low" we really are, and that state of awareness does not welcome the presence of God. If we renounce the world, i.e. go no more after the eminence and validation of the world, and instead we seek God in all things, our "shame" is turned into humility, admiration and love of God, not the shame of comparison, us to God. When we accept how finite we are and how Infinite God Is, and we want to know as much as we possibly can about God, then it seems to me that we are finally on the path to becoming as Godlike as possible. That is the polar opposite of shame.... 1
