Darren10 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 In a recent discussion among other fellow bloggers, one who can be best described as a Messianic Jew (I like ot call him an Israelite Christian ) the topic of whether or not the dietary aspects of The Law was still taught and practiced among Jesus' disciples. As I looked inot the subject, beyond Acts 10, I fail to find any explicit biblical pronounciation that the dietary restrictions were fulfilled in Christ. We know in the Book of Mormon that the resurrrected Jesus Christ stood physically among the Nephites and declared the Law of Moses fulfilled; but what of the Bible? Those of the Christian persuasion in the blog dialogue mentioned previously too kthe side that the dietary aspects of The Law were fulfilled but scripturally, how do traditional Christians make such a conclusion especially since much of what was taught in The Law was still being practiced, even among the disciples?
ChristKnight Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 I've seen traditional Christians reference Matthew 15:11-"Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."and Mark 15:11-"There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man."Not explicit, but I've seen these referenced as evidence. 1
Darren10 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 ChristKnight;I agree there are passages which indicate and have (correctly so in my view) been used to conclude that the dietary aspects of The Law were fulfilled in Christ but there really is no explicit declarative that I can find.Interesting and thanks for sharing.

Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.Gen 9:3 says:Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. Most Messianic Jews (except maybe for a minority who reject the Apostle Paul, the book of Galatians, and who want to circumcise gentiles) believe the dietary restrictions of the Law of Moses were given only to Israel, and not intended for Gentiles under the Noachide law (found in the 9th chapter of Genesis, where all meats were consecrated for human consumption by the Word of God.) seriously honestly Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 What about Romans 10? "Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved. (2)I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. (3)For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law. (4)For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God."
