In "Mormon Enigma" the authors allude to a struggle between Emma and the "men's councils" (pg. 174) that effectively stopped R.S. activity for 10yrs beginning in Mar. of '44. But Newell and Avery provide no reference to a council meeting between the brethren and Emma. I've been through the "Nauvoo City and High Council Minutes" and can't find anything.Anyone aware of any council meeting where the brethren specifically ordered the RS to quit meeting?
