Speaking of Church growth...

Every message board screamed how overly Mormon Utah County was and even had friends that claimed I'd be annoyed with the Utah County bubble. But so far after moving down here (from Sandy) I have not seen the same thing.

So far in Orem, I have seen:

Lots of Tattoo Parlors

Several Smoke Shops opening

New Starbucks and other cafe chains opening everywhere

Idiots driving down State street with their bass in heavy vibrate mode so loud it rattles MY plastics.

I do have to admit Sunday was extremely dead. My sister (non-member) moved up here. I drove her around the city, and while there were people out (and lined up in Starbucks), mostly there were only one or two groups in the sitdown areas of a lot of the restaurants.

But overall, does everyone think that Utah County is rapidly changing? And is it Mormon decline or Non-Mormon increase?

I do know as a technical guy, a lot of Tech companies are moving into Utah county (one of the reasons I moved down here). With Adobe, Novell, NuSkin, eBay, Microsoft, doTERRA, and other companies that either are entirely technical or have technical operations either moving in, or expanding, I am assuming the non-member increase is more likely than the Anti-Mormon fantasy that LDS are fleeing like rats from a ship... But I might be wrong?

In other words, will there be a day in the not too distant future that even Utah County will dip below the 50% line?

Lots depends on how busy we can get the Missionaries to be.

I'm guessing that a Software Engineer who gets a job with Adobe isn't patronizing too many tatoo parlors-but Starbucks, that I could see. Most likely, the tatoo parlors and smoke shops are catering to the young people who five years previous were enduring being dragged to church by their parents, or whose parents were huntin' and fishin' and ATV'n on Sundays instead of attending church. Just because 75% of Utah county is LDS doesn't mean we are bishops in embryo.
