I am sorry. Did I do something wrong calling for a reference?

You did not "call for a reference", you asked that someone else do so: "CFR please" (Call for Reference please).

It's a pet peeve of mine, I suppose, but "CFR" does not mean "reference", even though that's the way many people here use it.

ok...you lost me. I thought when someone said "CFR" they were asking the person they responded to provide a reference. Was that against the rules?

Don't get all wrapped around the axle. What you said above is true.

However, "CFR please", means "[someone else] call for reference please".

The problem is that many people use "CFR" as a noun meaning "reference". It's a whole sentence: Call for Reference." Properly used as a noun it means "[this is a] call for reference." I can issue a CFR, but, for instance, it is improper to say "This is my CFR," and then proved the reference. The letter "C" precludes this.

Ah, gee, just forget it.

Having a bad day Lehi? Smile and cheer up things could get worse. Oh and they probably will. :search:

What do you mean "probably will"? They probably ARE, he just hasn't found out yet.
