Franktalk Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I think that many Christians place them self on the narrow way to the Kingdom of God. But it says:Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.Many Christians think they are on this narrow way. But I have heard from anti-LDS that I pray to a false Jesus. Some other Christians believe that the Kingdom of God is already on the Earth and Jesus rules from our hearts. The point is that Christians come in all kinds of flavors. Can they all be on the narrow way? I will write what I think the narrow way is. But before I do that let me ask some questions that might help us see what path we happen to be on.1. Do you pray daily?2. Do you pray for your enemies?3. Have you read scripture this week?4. Have you helped someone in need this week?5. Have you prayed for Israel this week?6. Have you paid your tithe?7. Have you tried to bring Christ to someone this week?8. Have you kept the commandments?9. Do you love your God?10. Do you love your neighbor?11. Is God your first love?12. Have you rejected the world?13. Does the world hate you?14. Do you believe in miracles?15. Do you have a personal relationship with Christ?16. Have you been on your knees praying this week?I am no saint. The most important two are 11 and 10.I have rejected the world. God is my first love. I do love my neighbors. The world hates me sometimes. I believe in miracles. I pray daily. I read scripture daily. I do not always tithe. I do help people in need. This week I have not done missionary work. I do pray for my enemies. I have been on my knees praying this week but not all weeks. I have prayed for Israel. So what exactly does it look like to be on the narrow way? If God is your first love what does that mean? Does our view of doctrine play a role?I have accepted that the real existence is the next one. I have rejected this world. I see this world through spiritual eyes. I interpret scripture as truth and man's knowledge is mostly in error IMO.
Bit Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Other than what I perceive as a low opinion of humanity, I think you're doing better than a lot of people. Certainly better than I am -- who can find time to read the scriptures and pray every day? I try to, but it certainly doesn't always happen. As a Latter-day Saint, though, I believe that if I am following the commandments and doing the best that I can, what the "narrow way" looks like is between myself and my Father in heaven.
Hestia Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is but it sounds like it is preaching. Per board guidelines "Preaching doesn't create a discussion."
