My missionary Bible (pre LDS 1981 edition) contains this: "Chs. 40-66 are now usually ascribed to an unknown prophet, who lived in Babylon during the Exile." (Now, of course, since the 1981 edition of the LDS scriptures, all such problematic references to a "second or even a third Isaiah" have quietly been dropped; yet outside the LDS paradigm, their existence is almost a consensus among biblical scholars and students.) The problem with a "second Isaiah" is purely a BofM problem: how could Nephi quote an Isaiah passage from the "Brass Plates" which wasn't even in the OT until a generation after the Lehites arrived in the Western Hemisphere?QB makes this statement as fact, so let's see the proof.There was a school of the prophets, so I have no problem that there may be more than one hand involved in the writing of this book, but they wrote in the same time period at the direction of the prophet.Let's see the proof that they lived two centuries apart. Or is this just Jesus Seminary type of analysis.
