"Devils And Unclean Spirits"

It never really struck me before while reading until recently, but several times the Book of Mormon makes reference to "devils and unclean spirits"- seemingly making a differentiation. Any insights or speculations on what differences there might be between the two classes of beings?

I don't know if these are different classes of spirits, or if they're different roles that spirits may play. The word "devil" itself comes from the Greek diabolos for "accuser." A regular human being may turn himself into a devil if he decides to go around accusing people of things all the time, but he'd still be human. Or a person could alternatively assume the role of a paraclete (parakletos), "comforter" or "defense attorney/advocate" by standing up for other people.
