Except that his body did not lay in the tomb even 48 hours, much less than three and a half days. His body was probably in the tomb even less than 36 hours. But we see what we must in order to make these metaphysical (and necessary) connections....

There's more than one Sabbath during Passover week, and some (like Bishop Westcott, of the Church of England) believe in a Thursday crucifixion.

With a Sunday morning Resurrection, couldn't that give us three and a half days?

And if you (an LDS) do turn out to be one of the Two Witnesses, it would answer some of my questions.

I make no pretences to ever being one of the witnesses. Doug and I have sparred a bit over the years, and this was a dig at me. I appreciated the joke.

When Jesus applied the "sign of Jonah" to His death, we note that the prophet was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, not just three days (and the two intervening nights).

The New Testament accounts of the Passion are not very helpful, being very vague about the timing of certain things, but it is interesting to note that most Friday-Crucifixion adherents must invent a missing day, usually saying that "Jesus rested" on Wednesday that week. Somehow, that just does not comport with my view of His committment to His mission. A Thursday Crucifixion negates the need for that anomaly, and makes everything fit nicely into the actual biblical chronolgy.

The issue of what "Sabbath" means (HEB: "rest") is the source of the mystery, because, while it usually refers to the seventh day in the Bible prior to the Resurrection, it means just what it says: "rest", and Jews certainly rested on the Feast days required by the Law.

I don't think the two witnesses will be chosen or empowered by a nomination process.

But if they show up at the Wailing Wall, I would like to be there to humbly ask them some questions.

If this could happened, how would you recognize them? What dod you think?
