Question For The Atheist.

So you'd agree that a Mormon (who subscibes to LDS Theology) is left without any logical philosophical argument for the existence of God (or Gods)?

Possibly. I don't really understand your meaning in this question.

If the only thing you mean is that, by some philosophies, we require a God, then no, we Saints do no require Him on this grounds. The physical laws of the universe are ineherent in the nature and existence of matter. God did not invent gravity, He did not create heat or light (as concepts). They are eternal, just as He is, and do not depend on Him for their being (if that is the right word for properties).

That is a far cry from our not requiring Him on any basis, however.

Do you mean you have logical arguments for the existence of God?

I don't mean for the possibility of a God, or Gods (that would be an argument for Agnostism concerning God's existence.)

I mean do you (as a Mormon) have any logical arguments FOR His existence?

If you do, please show me one that is not undermined by your stated Theological positions.

But then law can exist without a lawgiver (and design without a designer), so you're left with no philosophical reason to believe in God (or Gods.)

The laws of the universe are eternal. there is no beginning, nor end. These philosophical arguments are based on a false assumption.

Are you not left with no logical argument for His/Their existence?

Belief is God is an individual decision. Each of us will face that decision.

I do not waste my time in "black hole" discussions. Logic only proves how clever we are in framing our argument, and our training in sophistry. One famous scientist declares that a belief in God is logical, and recently announced to the world that he changed his mind, "based on science".

The Creator gave us very specific instructions how to find out, how to test this awful question. I show a person how to perform the test, and leave it to them.

As a wise leader observed, "We don't lead someone to Christ. We invite them to come to Christ."
