Cities sunk in the ocean

I know that satellites have shown us that there are cities under the oceans. Have any artifacts been recovered? What are the dates proposed for the cities sinking into the sea?

what photos do you know that show cities under the ocean or even a body of water.

I saw something years ago about a lake in South America that had artifacts in it, but the Gov. of that country would not allow exploration.

There are sunken cities all over here is one link:

erayr on that link the first photo, what looks like buildings is just a reflection or the circuit board in the satellite. most of the other pictures just seem terrible strained as trying to indicate something other than normal geology is found.

in one of the photos, I could outline a seahorse that biting the tail of The Lock Ness Monster.

zeta, what photos do you think show sunken cities. The most convincing photo I have seen is the one of the ocean floor off the North African coast.

Just google "underwater archaeology" or "marine archaeology" with the geographical location of your choice to find more info. There is quite a bit out there.

in the first link, the "underwater anomaly" are reflections from on the camera lense. There are claims of an underwater Temple in Lake Titicca, but the interwebs seems devoid of pictures of said ruins.

The orthogonal pattern in that Google Earth seafloor image is an artifact of the data collection and map-making process. Depth data is often taken from ships using sonar, and the lines follow the perpendicular paths. Here and there you'll see straight lines in Google's oceans. It's simply where the depth data from that collection sample wasn't formatted correctly, etc. You'll also notice that they come off more often than not as deeper trenches, not raised walls.

But, there is a lot of ongoing underwater/marine archaeology throughout the world, and not just on shipwrecks. Though habitation sites are few and far between right now, as they definitely had to have significant constructions of nonperishable material to be visible today. But there is also a lot of circumstantial evidence for peoples and cultures lost during large flooding events or sea-level rise, like those of the Black Sea, Persian Gulf, and Bering Strait thousands of years ago.

i would accept the sonar explanation but for a lack of more than one occurrence as shown in the photo.

This explains the Google image problem in a bit more detail.

I do think there are underwater remnants of past habitations and cities, and that Google Earth and other satellite imagery or bathymetric analyses could help reveal them. But these shots of "Atlantis" are all wet. (Terrible pun :P ) Basically, anywhere with good evidence for human occupation along the coasts of a shallow submerged continental shelf could suggest other sites underwater within the vicinity. We won't find anything down on the ocean floors.

Is your goal to find some of those sunken cities listed in 3 Nephi? Good luck with that.

Is the goal to find any sunken city, assert that Joseph couldn't possibly have known that cities sink into the Earth, hold up that city that did sink into the Earth and say it adds plausibility to the Book of Mormon (basically the exact same strategy that apologists use with finding metal plates, stone boxes and temples outside of Jerusalem)? Good luck with that too.

Other goal?

Check Beringia. The land bridge wasn't just a sidewalk. People had to set up shop there on occasion while hunting or waiting for seasons to change. Also check the Mediterranean -- IIRC the 'great flood' had more to do with a natural dam down around Gibraltar that broke at the end of the last ice age which flooded the Mediterranean. Seems someone thought they'd found evidence in the Black Sea...I don't remember all the details and don't have time now to dig it up (History or Discovery Channel about a year, year-and-a-half ago?).

Yes, that must be his goal. Wait let me guess, if we did find sunken cities in Meso America what that actually does is not establish any credibility and it proves that JS is a liar.

I read this article when whole thing first happened, and it would be more believable if steve miller would have shown multiple photos, as of yet there seems to be only one photo. IF steve miller knows how this happens then there is obiviously more evidence of it somewhere to which he could have shown in the article.

this reminds me of a scene from "Broken Arrow" where one character responds to the other "I don't know whats worse, that we lost a nuke, or that it happens often enough that you create a code word for it."
