Religious beliefs and what a business does with its profits.

Do you use your religious values to decide whether you do business with a company based on what the company does with its profits, or the political activities of the founders or directors.

Are there things that we out of necessity have to "do business" with, despite a doing such being a indirect or unwitting promotion of something you are opposed to based on your religious values.

one example, I always thought "cleanflix" or any company which edited "R" movies to make them family friendly was silly. As a "R" movie still had to be purchased to make the edited version, thus, one was still monetarily supporting the "R" movie industry.

So for me, it was either watch the R movie.

Or watch the public air wave broadcast because that way you have not provided any support to the R movie industry.

No unless they are directly advertising that they are monetarily supporting something I oppose. In which case, there is usually a better place to go.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for or not but on my mission in Kentucky (parts of Indiana, Ohio, and Illinios) I know numerous members worked either in the tobacco industry (tobacco farming) or in the many whine distillaries (Jack Daniels, Makers Mark, Red Label). I suppose this could be considered a conflict of interest to some degree but taking into consideration the job market in those areas I had no issues with it myself.

nosmelone, I have heard that Members in Vegas were told it was "ok" to work for the Casinos. I have also heard that members in Spain were told it was ok that they own bars. The "ok" was based on local economy and such. yes it is hearsay, but it sortof makes sense to me.

as for tobacco growers and those who grow products under contract for the beer industry, I would think the farming skills could be put to better use.
