... the crickets are chirping.

I thought Kevin Graham was forever banned from posting on the MADB board. Has he been granted some special dispensation for this thread?

I'm just surprised he has managed to make a couple dozen posts without calling anyone an "idiot".

I believe your are correct.

No, it appears he just created a sock puppet.

I remember him comming in under a different name sometime ago. This posting style is very very similar to Graham's.

Master of the straw man he was/is.

Even if this is not Kevin he wont last long here because he seems to be throwing bombs in other threads.

So Ashment is to be faulted for calling them what they are

No, Ashment is to be faulted for using the term "magical" in an attempt to destroy the credibility of Gee and his articles, by banking on knee-jerk reactions to the word "magical" from the readers.

Guess again.

Notice how Mediator does not attempt to fully deny that he is Kevin Graham.

What??

Ashment used the term because that is precisely how they were categorized by Egyptologists long before John Gee ever thought about becoming an Egyptologist.

Do any of your paragraphs ever go by without containing personal attacks?

Knee-jerk reactions from the word "magic"?

Indeed.

That doesn't even begin to make sense.

Don't lets be disingenious.

Ashment said nothing that wasn't true and Gee hasn't shown otherwise.

Really? His entire article is an attempt to minimise the appearance of Abraham in the Magical. He failed to do so, so whilst he might here and there score a few minor quibbles, his main thrust has stalled.

All he did was whine about why he doesn't like the word magic, and he referred to a few other scholars who said the term wasn't specific enough, and problematic. Fine. But that doesn't change the fact that it is the best word we have for now, as evidenced by the fact that scholars use it all the time. You make it sound like Ashment "chose" the word arbitrarily. No, he simply stated what they were according to contemporary scholarship. The documents contained spells which were cast for a wide variety of purposes. Now what word would you prefer if not "magic"?

As I said above, don't be disingenious. Ashment included an attack on Gee for placing the word magical between quotation marks. "Consequently the magical spells, as examples of satanic imitations of 'true religion'

Why am I required to provide my true name on a thread full of people who also chose to use different screen names?

Who is Kevin Graham?

It is really simple. Just say "I am not Kevin Graham" or "I fully deny that I am Kevin Graham".

I am not asking you to divulge your real name.

Ok, it really is no skin off my nose either way.
