So I was thinking about Db's SBL Paper.

Amos 3:7

For the Lord God will do nothing, without revealing his secret(???) to his servants the prophets.

The word translated as "secret", can also be translated as council.

Jeremiah 23:18

For who hath stood in the council of the LORD, that he should perceive and hear His word? Who hath attended to His word, and heard it?

Psalms 89:8

A God dreaded in the great council of the holy ones, and feared of all them that are about Him?

So one could rightly translate Amos 3:7 as reading: "For the Lord God will do nothing, without revealing his council(???) to his servants the prophets."

God restoring his one, true chruch certainly would qualify as one of those "things".

In the 1835 telling of the 1st vision Joseph says:

"I called on the Lord in mightly prayer, a pillar of fire appeared above my head, it presently rested down upon me, and filled me with Joy unspeakable, a personage appeard in the midst of this pillar of flame which was spread all around, and yet nothing consumed, another personage soon appeard like unto the first, he said unto me thy sins are forgiven thee, he testified unto me that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; <and I saw many angels in this vision>".

Using the canonized account as an interpretive guide,we have:

1)God

2)Jesus Christ

3)"many angels"

4)the forgiveness of Joseph's sins

The questian I pose to you is:

IS THIS NOT A DIVINE COUNCIL SCENE?

1)El

2)YHWH

3)the Sons of God

4)a ruling

Well, yes it is. I had to think on this one for a bit. What an interesting thread.

I know huh. It seems that Joseph was called in the way other Old testament prophets were called.

Another one JS gets right.

Oh wait, . . .

Nothing to see here, these aren't the things (droids) your looking for. Move along.
