I must admit my knowledge of Freemasonry is about as limited as it is of knitting, but I certainly enjoyed the different look at the two pillars. I am inclined to believe in the solar element they represent while I wonder if they might represent a guardian nature akin to that of the sherphim. When I lived in Japan I noticed all temples had guardian images on each side of the entrance to a Shinto or Buddhist sanctuary much like a toriiThese would have marked the entrance from this world into the world of the gods. Secondly there are the two guardians...
