How do Mormons reconcile American Indian origins?

This has absolutely nothing to do with "young earth".

It has everything to do with it. The hypothesis that there was no physical death on the Earth before Adam's fall, and no people on the Earth before Adam and Eve, requires it.

It has to do with Adam and when he left the Garden of Eden.

This is a distinction without a difference. Unless one believes that Neanderthals lived in the Garden of Eden.

Are you suggesting that Mormons accept the idea that the Adam of the Bible lived several hundred thousand years ago? Please give me a reference to such a doctrine from Talmage or any other LDS leader.

The question seems to imply that I'm not a Mormon. My posts on this board suggest otherwise. I am suggesting that Mormons generally are not in agreement about evolution (http://www.deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,635188399,00.html), and that the official position of the Church regarding evolution is that it has no official position.

I appreciate your kind remarks. I am indeed stubborn and single minded when it comes to the scriptures and LDS doctrine.

I confess it. Adam was a literal person, the literal first human being who left the Garden less than ten thousand years ago.

I know you find that very annoying, but I can live with that.

No, we're not finding a difference of opinion annoying. What we're finding annoying is your intermingling fundamentalist Biblical literacy with Mormonism, and demanding that we acknowledge an official position that the Church hasn't taken.
