Well, an "everlasting inheritance in Zion," and a patriarchal blessing saying you

would "live to see" Jesus descend in glory to the millennial temple in Jackson County

seem like fairly "firm" latter day assumptions to me.

Then again, all the Saints of 1838 have long since died, and their expectation

to see Enoch's City restored to the streets of Independence never came to pass.

I wouldn't even know where to look for the boundary corners to my family's

"inheritance" there -- but I assume it would be on the "Ephraim" edge of

the four-sided square surrounding the temple site.

Why were my ancestors willing to load their guns and shoot Gentiles in 1838?

Because they were certain that they would "redeem Zion" before the year was out.

So much for their "assuming things that were not intended."

Trouble is -- Elder Rigdon never warned them that their inheritance was "not intended."

Well, to each his perspective. Their experiences instruct me on where my testimony of things should be. I certainly expect to live to see Jesus descend in glory, and it doesn't really matter if I have passed on to the other side or not, before He comes.
