Currently I've been reading "Hidden Treasures of Knowledge" by Stephen Morgan and it gives a pretty good analysis of the facsimiles. It offers a pretty good compilation for people that want a lot of information on the BoA without spending $40 each for ten Nibley books. I think the cow/sun example given here lends a little more credibility to the theory that JS restored what Abraham taught the Egyptians prior to their apostasizing and adopting their own mythology.

Another thing Morgan gets into in the book is how pyramidology fits in with the Book of Abraham. The "one day to a cubit" phrase in the BoA seems to fit in with the pyramidology chapter well in "Hidden Treasures."

I'm with Charity on this one, I wish Her Amun would just clearly articulate what he thinks the connection is, in as much detail as he can, and leave off the mysterious hint-dropping that implies he's onto something really big but he can't tell us all. If he can't clearly articulate a case for saying that what Joseph Smith said is justified by what the Egyptians had to say about things, then why does he insist on posting this kind of thread?

I have often gotten myself in troble with posts such as this. I like allowing the egyptians explain for themselves what they thought of these images, and leave the conclusions up to U all.

The image of Cow with sun between her horns, if I understand the BoB correctly, represents the sun at the morning of its birth. However, since the botom half of the hypo represents the underworld, and the Wedjat goddess is standing behind the cow with a lotus(resurrection symbol), my super amtauer skills lead me to believe that this might represent the sun during its death(the night time). The sun is inside the cow and she is about to give birth to him. Then again, I could be waaaaaaaaaay off. I cant read the minds of 2,000 yearold dead people.

Now, I belive some of The Prophet's explanations run parallel, or heaven forbid, actually agree with egyptological interpretations. Others, definatly do not(ex. Isis Mistress of the Gods, Pharoah King of Egypt as indicated by the characters above the head). Now, what that means to the individual believer or unbeliver is another issue.

As for the Celestial Cow, she is the primeval waters form which the sun was born and died. She is Also the Eye of Re. The Sun is the Eye of Re too. If Cow=Eye of Re, and Eye or Re=sun, does Cow=sun? Dunno.

In recent months much talk has been floating around on this board about the catalyst theory, about three months ago Bokovoy took me to Lake Havasu and baptized me into the catalyst sect, with CK and Sethbag acting as witnesses.

Which brings me to my point:

I think this puts the catalyst theory on firmer ground. Why would the Hathor Cow be used by the Lord as a represenation for "Enish-go-on-dosh; this is one of the governing planets also, and is said by the Egyptians to be the Sun....."? Well, because this symbol had obvious solar and celestial connections. The papyri provide a spring board to revelation the way Genesis was a spring board to the BoMoses. But for it to act as a springboard, there has to be a connection between the two. In regards to symbolism, there is.

Another item of interest when I was absolutely thrashing (in some DVD's and podcasts, as well as my Sunstone lecture a few years back) Charles Larson's woefully inadequate ramblings about his suspicions of the hypocephali ( ) and looking into all the ones I have collected, I actually found an hypocephalus (yes the singular is hypocephalus, I confuse them all the luvin time I tells ya!), that was singularly just this COW. Nothing else on it whatever! Most interesting, because it is the Mother that gives us life, you know, Eve, the Mother of all living, and things like that. I thought that was fascinating as well.
