Hermounts(BoM)

*Her-Montu"in the presence of Montu(nomad)"(Middle Egyptian) , Coptic(Ar-Mant), Hermonthis(greek)

Menthu was an ancient god, his name meaning nomad, Menthu represented strength virility and victory.Because of the association of raging bulls with strength and war, Menthu was also said to manifest himself in a white bull with a black face, which was referred to as the Bakha. Egypt's greatest general-kings called themselves Mighty Bulls, the sons of Menthu. In the famous narrative of the Battle of Kadesh, Ramesses II was said to have seen the enemy and "raged at them like Menthu, Lord of Thebes"(wikipedia).

Alma 2:37

37 Yea, they were met on every hand, and slain and driven , until they were scattered on the west, and on the north, until they had reached the wilderness , which was called Hermounts ; and it was that part of the wilderness which was infested by wild and ravenous beasts . 38 And it came to pass that many died in the wilderness of their wounds, and were devoured by those beasts and also the vultures of the air; and their bones have been found, and have been heaped up on the earth.

1)Both names are topograpic

2) the two names are homophonic.

3) Montu ws associated with a raging animal(bull).

4)Montu was a hawk god which corresponds to the BoM vulture, both ravenous birds.

5)Montu was associated with military victory.

*it might be Hor-Montu, as in Horus and Montu. Both were hawk gods for Horus was usually combine with local hawk gods.

Where is this topographic feature found in Egypt and what type of terrain or wilderness comprizes it?

It is not enough to find a similar word in the text but can a similarity in the type of geography be found?

Good call. I just realized, thanks to you, that topography refers to mountains, rivers etc.

Hermonthis is a town, from the middle kingdom. It seems that the egyptian is actually Permontu meaning "house of Montu" for that was were his ceremonial cult was located. It must be noted that the Per, became coptic "AR" and greek "Her", so the nephite "Her" also works.
