flavo Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 If you believe in modern day prophecy, Egypt was founded by one of the decendants of Noah's son. They copied from Noah the rights and practices of the priesthood because they could not take upon them that power by themselves.
structurecop Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Where can we buy or read a translation of the Book of the Dead?I recently saw two very inexpensive translations at Borders.
Jerubaal Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I found an online one, though it is rather outdated (1895). http://www.sacred-texts.com/egy/ebod/I'll see if I can find a more recent one for free on the internet.
Olavarria Posted November 18, 2006 Author Posted November 18, 2006 where can you buy one?http://www.press.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/hfs.cgi/00/167919.ctlwhat? no smilie faces?
Dale Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 The part that some depart with Ritner on is they believe the papyrus was longer than Ritner thinks. So they feel a second text existed, and was mixed in with the BOD text. Michael Rhodes pointed out that one BOD text he knew of had a BOD text plus another text unrelated to the BOD on the same papyrus.

Dale Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I did not know he had a website. Thanks for the link.
