  1. I thought you might find Maxine Hanks' recent interview with Benjamin Park to be interesting. At least for me, it gave some details I had not heard before. Recall that Maxine Hanks was one of the "September 6" excommunicated or disfellowshipped in 1993. She was rebaptized about 20 years later. It starts at about timestamp 35:45. At 47:50, we see from her perspective that the LDS leadership did NOT direct that these people should be excommunicated, only that disciplinary councils be held over doctrinal concerns, which is expected and not unreasonable (previous to that timestamp). On her first visit to the temple after being rebaptized, she met the stake president who excommunicated her. He said he had to make a judgment call based on their not communicating with him, but if they had, things might have been different. I freely admit and agree that the leaking to others that these DCs were coming down the pipe is contrary to the notion that these are private matters. She has an important and excellent point about members against members trying to get others excommunicated. She talks about her spiritual journey after 1993 and her realization that she had misjudged LDS leaders. Benjamin Park? I think he's generally pretty good as a historian and a very good speaker. I do not always concur with some of his conclusions and inferences or those of his guests. Inside the September 6 Excommunications - Benjamin Park
