Over at the ex-Mormon subreddit, user "tryintomakesenseofit" posted this interesting observation of the state of the missionary numbers.  It's especially interesting to see the quotes from leaders that would indicate that the decrease to ~70K might not have been expected, as well as the indicators that could let us estimate the number of sister missionaries as part of the surge. Has anyone seen quotes or stats that would contradict these estimates?
