bluebell Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I like to read the last week of Christ's life in the Jesus the Christ book by Talmage for Holy Week. Not sure I'm going to get to it this year, but it's not a horrible amount of pages. 2
CV75 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I thought this was very nice and worthwhile : https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/liahona/2025/04/digital-only/20-inspired-quotes-to-celebrate-jesus-christ-this-easter?lang=eng 4
JVW Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I'm considering having a passover meal as dinner on Easter sunday. idk when passover actually is and I didn't start considering it until after the week before it started so I'm not going to get rid of yeast in my house this year. 1

According to my calendar it was a few days ago. I still think that's an awesome idea though. 1
Nofear Posted April 15 Posted April 15 An aside from the point of the thread, but I liked that the videos were all using individuals from the Pacific area of the Church (at least what I can guess based on their accents). https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/easter-holy-week isn't found. Just the https://pacific.churchofjesuschrist.org/easter-holy-week. There is a draft version of it too apparently (https://pacific.churchofjesuschrist.org/easter-holy-week-draft). There is another version on the Church's main site https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/comeuntochrist/easter/easter-week which I think is from a previous year. But, now there's a whole rabbit hole one can go down (gee, thanks Calm). https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/countries?lang=eng 2

It began at sundown on the 12th, and ends at sundown on the 20th. 1

FWIW, one way of understanding Easter is as the Christian Passover. In fact, that's its name in the Celtic, Nordic, and Romance languages, along with Albanian, Greek, Russian, and Turkish. Other names for the day include "Resurrection" (Serb-Croatian), "Great Day/Night" (other non-Russian Slavic countries), "Sacrifice" (Georgia, if I remember correctly), and variations on a phrase indicating the end of Lent. 1
InCognitus Posted Friday at 05:01 PM Posted Friday at 05:01 PM I go for an hour long walk every day, and in the last ten days or so I've been listening to the chapters of Matthew 26-28, Mark 14-16, Luke 22-24, and John 17-21, over and over again during my walk. Hearing those chapters over and over again and in comparison to each of the other gospels has been very enlightening. Let me just say that John 17 (which is Jesus offering the intercessory prayer) is probably one of the most beautiful chapters in all of scripture. And I really hope that in the hereafter (or sooner?) we can get a lesson manual or a recounting of everything Jesus taught to the two men on the road to Emmaus: "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." (Luke 24:27) I would love to have been there with them at that moment.
