My heart is crying. πŸ˜“ There are not many people online right now. While this is supposed to be a bussy hour.

I used to post a lot more when the majority of threads and topics were about doctrine and history.

I post far less now that most posts are about Church culture and Church politics and who is suing the Church or saying things on social media.

There are still topics about doctrine and history. Recently i made a topic about Joseph Smiths life. So.....you can classify that as "history"

But you can also make a topic yourself about whatever you wanna have a dialoque about. I see that a lot of people don't make topics anymore. And without topics there can't be a dialogue.

It happens a lot of weekends and holidays. People are probably getting ready for Thanksgiving here.Β

Yeah i notice that there are not many people online. Even right now.

But uh....thanksgiving. Is that such a big thing in the United States? Must be wonderfull...magical. 🌈 All those Mormon famillys comming together to celebrate thanksgiving. With plenty of delicious food. All those really close and tight Mormon family relationships. πŸ«‚ oh my..... that must be a bless.Β

Hello Dario_M

Sorry for delay in responding. I only joined this community last Wednesday, a few of the members remember me. I am a Church attending Roman Catholic, please don't all scream and close your eyes 😊.

I'd love to know about your experience, I've been a life long LDS or Mormon. I have had the wonderful gift of some insight into the Catholic faith because of my brother-in-law being Catholic but not active. First his very devout parents. I was able to attend a funeral, his father, and my niece's wedding in the Catholic faith. And his mother on Ash Wednesday, seeing the Last Supper on the wall of her home.

And attending a service with a boyfriend who was Catholic in high school. These little snippets of the Catholic church were very nice and comforting. I'm sure there's maybe a difference with being a Roman Catholic though. So I need to look into that because I'm very uneducated when it comes to other faiths.Β

Hi Tacenda

Β I'm what's referred to as a cradle Catholic, raised in the Catholic Faith since childhood. I have been active in the Church since childhood. From what little I know the LDS and the Catholic Church have similarity s. To use a expression, meat on the bones. Basically meaning, teachings on various aspects of life, and a commitment to faith, with a respect for the individual. The Catholic church promotes various forms of worship with regards to parts and the whole of Christs existence. Such has the stations of the Cross, the Rosary which is dedicated to the mother of Christ, Mary.Β

A bit, no, a lot like LDS, it is a big subject area. And one that needs a bit of time to look in toΒ

Hi Tony...I am a convert to Catholicism thirty years ago. And welcome to the board. I have been here longer than most, for twenty years. We have some unique ideas in common with the LDS. I took LDS claims very seriously in the early 90's. The biggest similarity to my thinking is that both churches claim in some sense to be the one true church. The LDS stood out along with the Catholic Church as a contender when few other "churches" made that claim. We also share a belief in the importance of priestly authority to administer sacraments. (They usually call them ordinances if I am not mistaken). Another belief that we share is that we have hope for everyone that they may be saved (whatever that means), but still through the true church. It does not mean that by selecting the right church one is finished with their faith journey. And finally there is deification/theosis. The LDS have discovered through our Church Fathers, a Catholic teaching that is similar to their own, using language about humans becoming gods. A lot of the LDS do not know that it is right out in the open in the ceremonies of the Masses in the west and as they call the Divine Liturgy in the East. For some reason they think it is under emphasized in the west and many of them, if they were convinced that there was no apostasy would appear to be more east leaning for that reason. It IS in our own recently promulgated 1995 Catechism of the Catholic Church too. Protestants just want to live forever and play golf or listen to Kenny Rogers. I am not against either. (I prefer Kenny Rogers when he was with the First Edition). So I am not trying to trash on our separated brethren. I am sure that we teach that salvation is much more glorious and wonderful than anyone can imagination. It is not just escaping hell. I think that most Protestants have a diminished idea of what their Father in Heaven wills to give us, in my opinion, in contrast to LDS and Catholics and the Orthodox too (who are almost us anyway, may it happen soon O Lord! Unity).Β

Oh and hi to Tacenda too! I quoted you and talked to Tony...sorry. I am glad you found your brief brushes with our faith to be uplifting for you. Anyway...editing again...Just babbling on. I guess it was a Tony quote but responding to Tacenda. I hope I have summarized my biased views well enough without any misrepresentation.

Hi 3DOP

Good to hear from you. Many moons ago, I came across a phrase, 'Meat on the Bones'. I can not remember from where it was, but it was refering to Catholic teaching. Basically, in a good way, it was said in regards to the teaching of the RC Church, a faith that had depth to it. Not just a simple, I believe so I can still do whatever I want attitude. Out of interest, I have glanced at the teachings and ways of other Christian Churches. The only other Church that I managed to find with any depth has been the LDS. And also the members of the LDS that I have come into contact with, have been friendly genuine people. In the short space of time I have been on this Board. I have certainly had, a warm, friendly welcome from all. Also, the information about the LDS has been very helpful in helping me to gain a better understanding. And there is certainly a lot of information to learn about.

Hi Tacenda

Now that I am a bit more tech clever. I am able to catch up a bit more with the people, good enough to welcome me on the board.

My own experience of the Catholic faith/Church has been a good one. I was baptised as a baby. Brought up in what maybe considered a moderate Catholic household. My Schooling was Catholic, with Irish nuns getting everyone to keep order and learn. As a child, poor health was the normal, but found strength through my my faith and belief. Ill health has continued through my life into middle age. So now it is something that I am used to. And also there has been family bereavement, once again my faith has kept me together.

Why are you so early every time if i may be so free to ask? Not that it does matter for the rest, or that it is any of my business. Just curious. I saw you posting at 5:00 a clock Dutch time. Yesterday i saw you posting around the same time. Also around 5:00 a clock Dutch time here. But...5:00 a clock in the Netherlands is 4:00 a clock in the UK. So in your timzone you're posting at 4:00 a clock. So that is prety early. Are you secretly from the United States? πŸ˜‰πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I can't imagine being up so early every morning.Β
