like always I hope they finally put the family proclamation in the scriptures.

I’m curious what you hope that will do.

Last conference (in April), temples were mentioned 179 times in 20 of the 32 talks.

I predict in this coming conference temples will be mentioned 180 times and the location for building more temples will be announced (that's a safe bet).

I think one of the apostles referred to it as a revelation at some point when talking about it in General Conference, but then that part of his talk was removed (can anyone remember who it was?). After that I figured that it wasn't going to be added to our scriptures any time soon.

Pres. Packer in the Oct.2010 conference, why I know this, I dunno!

It may make it yet.  It is part of the 2024 Come Follow Me lesson plan.  December 1 is 137 and 138, December 8 is Articles of Faith and OD 1 and 2, December 15 is Family Proc, then Christmas.  That is close to scripture…

It may.  Are OD 1 and 2 considered scripture?  I really don't know.

It’s wiki, but I am eating…

.The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has twice issued Official Declarations to clarify significant doctrinal issues.[1] Official Declaration 1 was added to the church's official scripture, Doctrine and Covenants, in 1908; Official Declaration 2 in 1981.[2][1][3]

This has 2 canonized in 78, I am trying to pull out the memory and not making it.

Official Declaration 2 is the canonized formal 1978 announcement by the church's First Presidency that the priesthood would no longer be subject to restrictions based on race or skin color.[36] The declaration was canonized by the LDS Church at its general conference on September 30, 1978, through the process of common consent.[37] Since 1981, the text has been included in the church's Doctrine and Covenants, one of its standard works of scripture.[38]

My memory is some stuff was added to the Pearl of Great Price and then in 81 was switched to D&C, as in printed up and told to stick it at the back of the PoGP and then when they printed the new LDS scriptures in 81, it got put in the D&C.  I was mildly offended for the PoGP when they changed them as that is my favorite book.

Added:  I am thinking I thought OD 2 was first added to the PoGP because I stuck it at the back of my Triple, lol.  Or my memory got it mixed up with 137 and 138

And added again:  I will go dig out my husband’s missionary scriptures tomorrow and see if he has them stuck in the right place.  :)

[In 1976] two items of revelation were added. In 1979 these two items were removed from the Pearl of Great Price and placed in the Doctrine and Covenants, where they now appear as sections 137 and 138” (introduction to the Pearl of Great Price). Its present contents include selections from the Book of Moses, the Book of Abraham (with three facsimiles), Joseph Smith—Matthew, Joseph Smith—History, and the Articles of Faith.

How nice. General Conference. Mostly when there is a conference on a sunday there is no church service. That's always a bit unfortunate.

Does your ward gather to watch the Conference together the next week? (Since when it’s live you all would be asleep, I am guessing).

Though you could watch Saturday conference the next day…unless it takes longer to translate?

I don't know exactly how that goes. All i know is that they put a big white screen on the wall in the church and watch the conference together. But with the different time change i don't know how they fix that to be honest.

Traditionally we go on a long bike ride for conference- listen and ride ! This Saturday is predicted amazing weather, 70 and sunny.  My husband just bought us cool sunglasses that have headphones attached -

I predict lots of temple stuff too.  Everything Christ focused .  Another reiteration of the purpose and importance of the garment. (Easy predictions) -

Another mid level prediction is a doubling down on patriarchal positioning,  but some will assert that our church provides unique opportunities for women to thrive.

Wild hair prediction- a new program for prepping senior missionaries will be announced in hopes of encouraging more willing participation.

Someone will break down and tell a real story about their own struggle with addiction or being gay in the church or having sincere doubts about the church. The stories that get my attention in sacrament are the personal ones.

We can wish . But that level of realness is not our way on the authority level.

Second Quorum of the Twelve Apostles announced. They will be put in charge of the eastern hemisphere.

The Second Quorum will lead a massive assault on Instanbul (formerly known as Constantinople). Upon taking control, the city will be renamed Nelsonipol and an embassy will be sent to Jerusalem.

You’re just setting yourself up for an East-West Schism.

Don’t forget about beavers and muskrats, too.

Nah. The problem for the Catholics was because Europe was TOO close to Constantinople. They were constantly bickering over jurisdiction of the Levant.

The LDS has the advantage of clear boundaries of the American continent (i.e. Western Hemisphere).

Blood atonement reinstated as official doctrine but is only applicable to those illicitly practicing plural marriage.

And in a much-lampooned decision, the only people authorized to practice it and impose the penalties are the wives.   After some initial funerals, everything is fine and plural marriage gains widespread acceptance in the church, and then the world.  Church critics have to adjust their criticism to stuff like "The church is stuck in the last century, and they STILL don't let the Relief Society to execute members of the Elder's quorum".

Danite secret agent division is retired and all previous agents are reassigned to the accounting department.

True story - one of the people from the stake that comes and audits our ward finances every 6 months, is an active duty cop who works in forensic accounting.  It's quite an experience to be audited by a guy still wearing his work attire, including sidearm.

I'm trying to think about what hasn't been changed in the church since Pres. Nelson became the prophet. Only things I can think of are: the word of wisdom, sacrament prayers, canonized scriptures. So I think one of those three things will get some kind of a tweak next conference. It seems to me like the word of wisdom has gone the way of family home evening in talks, it's just not talked about anymore. I think there will be a change to canon by 2030, I'm curious to see how that plays out.
