Will Mormons Save the Great Salt Lake?

Seems pretty stupid to cause an environmental disaster to protect .2% of the state’s business.

The connection to the eating of meat to farmers not being willing to cut their water usage seems really tenuous to me. I seriously doubt that Utah gets much of its meat from Utah ranchers.  Our ability to get hamburgers will not be impacted at all by there being fewer alfalfa growers in the state.

What’s at stake is people’s livelihoods, but that’s a harder topic to vilify so people don’t like to address it.

I agree with the need to lessen our state’s production of alfalfa, but to do that we don’t need to eat less meat. We need to put a lot of local farmers and ranchers out of business.

That’s a tough discussion.

At least the only respectful and accurate reporting of LDS belief is when they are using it to manipulate us to get involved in Enviromental causes. Not to say the cause isn't a very worthy one, but just interesting how their tone and accuracy changes when they want us to be on the same side. We are talking about saving the Salt Lake itself. We'll have to change the name to the Great Salt Playa.
