It's what teacher's almost always do with groups (discuss this scripture/story/example and then tell the class what you think) that is the problem. Yeah, that's not great I agree. The act of having to move chairs and physically get into groups, and being forced to be social (for lack of a better term) is almost the worst part for me. Even if all the teacher wanted was for us to get into groups and tell each other what we did that weekend, it would still be horrible. 2 Link to comment

It depends on the Bishop but if you at least attend sacrament meeting regularly and only occasionally miss a Sunday school/Priesthood you can probably still get the recommend. I know people who are confined to their beds at home or have to work on Sundays who are still able to get their recommends renewed. Bishops will make every accommodation they can to help a member get the recommend. Yep. I am not confined to bed, just couldn’t make it past ten to 15 minutes at church at a big cost and so didn’t go and never had a problem with a recommend. Now my life is more predictable I am hoping to get back for once a month and see how I handle it. My husband isn’t teaching in primary anymore so can bring me home after SM 3 Link to comment
