(No HAL, NO!) Actually this is very cool. It was interesting to read how they are working with the issue of orientation. I'm not sure a 2 percent possibility of errors is acceptable for mass computer chip production, but they'll probably get that worked out. Thanks for sharing. 😊 1 Link to comment
rodheadlee
Orbital solar collectors are the future of our energy needs. I can't find the article but the Pentagon has launched a small example of this technology. https://www.space.com/solar-power-stations-in-space-could-be-the-answer-to-our-energy-needs.html https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottsnowden/2019/03/12/solar-power-stations-in-space-could-supply-the-world-with-limitless-energy/?sh=5dc5aff74386 https://www.spacesolar.caltech.edu/ Edited March 8, 2021 by rodheadlee 1 Link to comment
AtlanticMike
My wife and I lost a baby and this new and upcoming invention might of helped. It's the artificial biobag womb. It's also amazing to think that once this is perfected, there's a chance a baby could go full term in a bag, probably still 50 years away though.https://abcnews.go.com/Health/artificial-biobag-womb-extremely-premature-newborns-testing/story?id=47028382 1 Link to comment

The devices in this work are called "uterine replicators", and in this future (about 1000 years from the present), most parents choose replicators over in-vivo gestation (being safer for both mother and child). 1 Link to comment

I don't have any links to this, because I thought of it myself -- as a plot device for a science fiction story I've not been able to come up with a plot for. Yes, that would be absolutely crazy if you think about. You have a child that you can actually watch grow for nine months because it's in a clear bag. That's crazy to think about but also amazing that it could be just 30 or so years away. 2 Link to comment

It could be done but the chances are they would get caught before completing the modifications necessary. I believe they address that in the Forbes article. Link to comment
