Stargazer
This has some relevance to the board's overall topic, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in that the narrator mentions the founding of the Church in connection with some of the effects of the volcano's eruption. And besides, it's an interesting video, in and of itself! 2 Link to comment
Robert F. Smith
Yeh, they used to call that year "1800-and-froze-to-death." For the Joseph Smith Sr Family it meant that they had to leave Norwich, Vermont for Palmyra, N.Y. The economy was in shambles due to crop failures, but Palmyra was a boom town. One can speculate that this was the Lord's method of getting the Smith family near that hill in Manchester Township, so that Joseph could get the gold plates. Link to comment
The Nehor
I wish I had read this thread before today. I was playing a quiz game yesterday with some family and one question was what was the biggest eruption in the last thousand years. I knew the event but couldn't remember the name. Link to comment
