I am struggling, and need too struggle less.

I know the original goal of this website, was to bring together, and attract, established scholars who are known, and noteworthy, within their respective (or is it perspective) fields. Also too entice members who have the skills to communicate, via topic and context  on their level, for the important and wonderful cause to bring great men and women together, who can make, or give a scholarly defense of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Which was, and is a lofty goal, to make a defense of the Faith, or “our Faith”. In the face of overwhelming and unfair attacks, against all we love, and all we hold dear. Also to point our the lies and hypocrisy of a number of anti-Mormon websites, some of which remain, and others that are disappearing from the landscape. Some due to outrageous comments, that are viewed as unfair, on both sides, and others due to financial difficulties, but it seems for a time, it is a shrinking landscape for now.

My struggles come not in a lack of love for my beliefs, or my Faith, but from the difficult manor of how I most post, as well as my woeful weakness in writing, punctuation, and grammar. This is brought on in part, but the manor in which I must post, and my lack of education in such fields. It is a burden that leads me to do so many rewrites, some from the way I have to hold up my iPad, using only three fingers to type, with one thumb, on my left hand. to balance the iPad. The other comes from a lack of education, spending far too much time on Mathematics, which I teach, or taught which is what what I do, and too little time on (once again) “Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar”. As a result, I fear, as number of replies suggests, as my comments and grammar, make it hard for others to understand me.

I love this site, I love what it seeks to accomplish, and  fear I may be more of a distraction, than a contributor. The work of the Gospel, and the work of this website for me to get too far in the way. Or to be a distraction to the overall goal of what so many have sought to do, over decades. Maybe, I belong in the Social Hall, with only minor questions at times offered in the Discussion Forum. My 13 years here have not been exactly stellar, if all are to be honest. I believe in this work, in our Faith, are truly important, and each week I spend less time in other social forums, unless It is all about family, my family, or sharing what others post. I do venture not other things, but I am also becoming, less and less visible, and many are pleased. But, I will keep watching here daily, and will seek to keep my comments brief. So, by all means, please keep up your defense of the Faith. Make no mistake, I love you all, for all that you do. You will also be in my prayers. May the Grace of God be with you, and use all your education and skills, to defend the Faith, and combat the lies of those who are both apostles, and the unscrupulous, and unprincipled.

With love,

Bill “Papa” Lee

P.S. I am also struggling with the growing difficulty, of having to just use one eye for most postings. Also keep up the good fight!

Hi Papa, your posts have a lot less mistakes, to me anyway. But I see so much wisdom and intelligence come in, so any little mistake spelling/grammar wise, doesn't bother me in the least. I wouldn't be able to post as much as I do if I were using an iPad. I use a very inexpensive chromebook called Acer. It's huge, and I can sit on the comfort of my couch as it reclines and sit it on my lap, with a big screen and keyboard, with one eye opened, lol. I had lasik surgery years ago and had one eye see up close and one eye see distance, so as I type one eye is closed. But I couldn't do it on an iPad, no way! And there is no way I could handle using an iPad, because I use my mouse all the time. But it might be a bad thing I'm able to put out posts so quickly, since I regret posting half almost.

Heya Papa.  I am just regular folk here..don't care about punctuation...how you spell..or how long it takes...That is Scott Lloyd's job😂(just kidding)...what matters is what you share from your heart and how YOU feel after you have shared.  God Bless You!

Maybe I missed something.  What is wrong with your other eye?  Typing with one eye on an ipad would almost be too much for me, so I am impressed.

Best wishes Papa.

I don't know who decided that calling the years when you grow old "the golden years" was a good idea. ;)

Hang in there I enjoy your posts, and all I see is wisdom.

See Ether 12:24-26:

24 And thou hast made us that we could write but little, because of the awkwardness of our hands. Behold, thou hast not made us mighty in writing like unto the brother of Jared, for thou madest him that the things which he wrote were mighty even as thou art, unto the overpowering of man to read them.

25 Thou hast also made our words powerful and great, even that we cannot write them; wherefore, when we write we behold our weakness, and stumble because of the placing of our words; and I fear lest the Gentiles shall mock at our words.

26 And when I had said this, the Lord spake unto me, saying: Fools mock, but they shall mourn; and my grace is sufficient for the meek, that they shall take no advantage of your weakness;

Thou art in good company.

Well, I added that last verse :)

Google, reddit and audiobooks are your friend.  Check out the great courses series, it's what i've always done.  My car is literally a university on wheels.  Also, check out brian tracy, great motivational speaker.  Salesmen, business types and others listen to him.  He has a series on learning, worth checking out.

I don't feel bad when it comes to discussing things such as history religion and what not with others, I know i've disagreed with half the people here and I admit it, I don't budge often on my own concepts and ideas for the simple reason that I do judge people based on their actions.  I know a lot of people here stateside resent that, they pull ye olde don't judge me yet continue to act like entitled idiots who feel like the world should clean up their mess without giving a thing in return.  Why waste your time on entitled people especially when you not only know you're right, you're also most likely better than they are.

From what i've seen you post, you've done nothing but contribute to society while putting up with people IRL giving you grief, still remember when you made the post over some younger people in your ward giving you grief because you weren't as tech savvy.  I say take their brats, drop em off in the woods or someplace without cell phone reception and see if they can find their way out.  As a rule people anymore are worthless without their fancy overpriced toys and if/when times get bad (which they are now....) we all may see days where it takes old school know how to survive.

You're a lot nicer than I am, a lot of you are.  If the world was burning I'd be sitting back laughing about which slimeball gets destroyed first, the likes of you would actually do something.  Hope you don't let the scum out there keep you down, you're better than that.

Very kind, Pogi. Also I thank you, but I see them and often have to do many edits. Not this time as I took hours to post this thread, and even still I am sure there are errors, that I am sure many true scholars have already noted. In fact, I had to edit this short post. Which brings me back to the root of the problem.

Papa, If this site is for true scholars than I should excuse myself, also. However, I was allowed to join so I will continue to chime in with my non-scholarly opinion. This is an interesting group and I respect the different perspectives members bring to the table.

No, it is not only for scholars, but it did begin as a tool to combat anti-Mormon misrepresentations, and it once had many who were very skilled at debunking their misinformation, with scholarly information. Also, I may and will still chime in at times, but long posts take too long, with many embarrassing mistakes, pretending that I am qualified to address many issues, which either makes me look foolish, or makes me feel foolish, for trying to appear “scholarly”, which I am not. Often, my attempts to do so, even have long time members, telling me I am marking no sense at all. Sadly, they are far too often right. But, by all means keep posting, the board needs variety. I am just good at teaching Electrical Code and Mathematics, and now just a broken down old soldier and cop. All things, of which I can no longer do, but all which I loved. But, I still get to be a good husband, father, and live to be a good Papa, or so I am told. But, those who tell me this love me, so here’s hoping they are not just being kind.

I need a new set of glasses, I am using cheap reading glasses. My diabetes has really taken a toll on my eyes, so I find it much easier to just use one eye. I need to get my eyes checked.

I hate picking out new glass frames.

Such a good message for Papa, and one for us all, especially those little brats out there, haha! ;)
