Strong statement on previous covering of abuse and telling abusers to step forward. I'll let you guys google it.

I can't find the whole speech from yesterday (the annual papal Christmas message), but it apparently covers a wide range of issues.  See https://www.washingtonpost.com/religion/2018/12/21/hand-yourself-over-human-justice-pope-francis-tells-priests-guilty-abuse-that-church-wont-shield-them/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.139a9f983df9 .

Many Roman Catholic observers are very critical of the Pope for his recent efforts to protect abusive cardinals and to allow them to run the Curia.

I went on a walk and listened to this podcast that just came out. It's Jan Broberg's story about her abduction that is a documentary on Netflix called, "Abducted in Plain Sight". It was so difficult to watch, and I did have angry feelings towards the parents, but I guess a long with Jan, they too were groomed. In the podcast they mention that we are in the beginnings to finally get people to talk about their abuse, whether a family member or not, whether they go to prison for it or not. This is a good listen and the fact that her abuser was allowed to work in the temple even after being arrested for her kidnapping and sexual abuse later in life, is mind boggling. I think the church has now come a long way. But the abuser was working in the temple as recent as in the 2000's, so still a lot of work needs to be done.

Intro: When the crime documentary ‘Abducted in Plain Sight’ was released on Netflix, Jan Broberg (the woman at the centre of this seemingly bizarre story of multiple kidnappings, an alien mission and sexual assault while a child) was full of regret…

Just watched this abc4news with Jan Broberg. https://www.abc4.com/news/local-news/blind-trust-how-grooming-led-to-jan-broberg-s-abductions-in-plain-sight-/1964064652

Again, I ask, how this Robert Berchtold can go on to serve in the temple later on???
