probablyHagoth7
Utah ranks in top 3 states in number of arts and cultural workers ...according to a report released yesterday by the Bureau of Economic Analysis and National Endowment for the Arts. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865678221/New-report-says-Utah-is-in-top-three-states-with-arts-and-cultural-workers.html 1. But there are 30+ states with a larger population than Utah, half of those having at least twice the population of Utah. 2. So if the rankings are based on # of workers, as the title suggests, Utah may very well rank #1. 3. Either way, any thoughts on why Utah would rank so highly in this metric? probablyHagoth7
The question interests me because: 1. I recently launched (or more accurately relaunched) a small business within this same niche. 2. The headline suggests a fun parallel to something else I've shared recently. Calm
"Utah is among seven states that exceed the national rate for arts and cultural workers by 9 to 17 percent. Utah has high numbers in jewelry manufacturing, design services and performing arts presenters, according to the news release. The Beehive State is also in the top five for employment per worker in the motion picture and video industry, along with California, New York, Louisiana and New Mexico." ---- Here is a more detailed report: https://www.arts.gov/news/2017/latest-economic-data-tracks-arts-and-cultural-jobs-state Link to comment

Again, why Utah? Any thoughts on why so many Utahns gravitate towards artistic/cultural vocations? Link to comment
