Popular Post waveslider
My son opened his mission call last night and got called to the Philippines, Laoag mission. He will be speaking Tagalog. I was just wanting to learn all I can about this mission and the area. So I would like all who have any experiences, knowledge, or links to this place to give me their input. Thanks in advance! Edited September 4, 2016 by waveslider wrong word 7 Link to comment
Tacenda
My son in law went to the Philippines, but getting him to talk about his mission is like pulling teeth. Congrats on your son's mission call! 1 Link to comment
Rajah Manchou
Congrats! I've never been as far north as Laoag, but anywhere you go in the Philippines you'll find amazing people with strong faith. He'll have a great experience. I was once curious about the language that most closely matched Book of Mormon names so I put them all together and put them in Google Translate. Of course this isn't scientific, and shouldn't be taken too seriously, but Google finds Tagalog (Filipino) and Cebuano as the closest matches for Book of Mormon proper names. 2 Link to comment
Calm
You ahould try that again removing biblical names as they might be common sourced. 1 Link to comment

Not sure I got them all, but Google Translate still detects Cebuano. Not that it means anything. But still an interesting factoid for Tagalog and Cebuano speaking missionaries 2 Link to comment
